MSC Cruises – The Truth Is Out There.

From my considerable experience within the cruise industry I’ve noticed  no single cruise line seems to polarize opinion quite as much as MSC Cruises. It appears they are both loved and hated in equal measure. I speak with clients who believe they offer exceptional value for money (their pricing structure sees them pitched firmly in the ‘value’ category) and also clients who believe they are simply not up to scratch (despite what they have paid).

I’m a firm believer in the ‘you get what you pay for’ philosophy which is why I’m so looking forward to my upcoming (mini) cruise on the MSC Preziosa out of Venice. While I have visited MSC ships in the past, this will be my first opportunity to actually cruise on one. After hearing many opposites of opinion about MSC over the years I finally get the chance to discover for myself the truth.

So often I hear about the on board announcements being in half a dozen different languages, the food not catering specifically to the British palate (they are an Italian cruise line after all), the staff primarily speaking one of several European languages other than English (again, they are an Italian cruise line). Personally I feel these gripes I’ve heard from clients indicate to me that maybe their cruise holiday was mis-sold to them in the first place, or more to the point, price was the main consideration at the time of booking. Clients wanting a British company, catering for British palates, with British style entertainment should book something a little more, well….British.

Anyway I digress, I’m off on the virtually brand new MSC Poesia which was launched in March 2013 and while not quite in the ‘shock and awe’ bracket of say Quantum of the Seas, there are several innovations I’m looking forward to checking out.

The spectacular Doremi Castle aqua park featuring Vertigo – the longest single-rider water slide afloat. The serene infinity pool, the MSC Aurea Spa and the high end luxury of the MSC Yacht Club Suites.

Rest assured I’ll do my best to experience all I can, and hopefully I can get to the bottom some of the more negative opinions I’ve heard regarding MSC Cruises. One thing is for certain I’ll be back with a frank and honest account of my time on Preziosa.

Bye for now.
