Don’t forget the Queen! – New $300,00 stage show debuts to rave reviews.

All the cruise industry talk recently has been about the brand new Quantum of the Seas with all her high tech innovations and ground breaking features, and rightly so, never has there been a more technologically advanced cruise ship at sea. However I did want to spare a thought for some of the incredible established cruise ships currently sailing our ocean waves. I wanted to mention one in particular – the Cunard Line Queen Victoria.

While maybe not as cutting edge as the Quantum and of course not brand new, she along with many others still offer an incredible product with amazing entertainment, after all ‘Robotic Bartenders’ and ‘Skydiving at Sea’ isn’t everyone’s cup of tea right?

For the more traditional cruises Cunard Line have recently opened Queen Victoria’s brand new stage show, “Hollywood Rocks,” and it’s taking the luxury ship by storm. The first performance which celebrates the glamour of Hollywood’s heyday and includes iconic movie soundtracks received a standing ovation and an 86 percent approval rating from passengers. The production, which cost more than $300,000 to stage, takes passengers on an imaginative journey from the silent screen, through the golden age of cinema, to contemporary Oscar winners.

The show features song and dance numbers from some of the most famous movies in history, including classics such as “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz and “Singing in the Rain”. “I Will Always Love You” from The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, “The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing, and an ABBA medley from Mamma Mia also feature.

David Dingle, chairman of Cunard Line said: “’Hollywood Rocks’ is a brand new production specially crafted for our guests aboard Queen Victoria, with emotionally-charged music, extravagant dance numbers and spectacular costumes, the show is an exuberant ride through the cinematic ages, featuring some of the most famous movies ever made.”

Throughout the 45-minute performance, you can enjoy hits from blockbuster films, including Titanic and Pirates of the Caribbean, as you sit back and relax in Queen Victoria’s stunning three-tier Royal Court Theatre, complete with the first private theatre boxes at sea.

Sounds good right? So spare a thought and don’t forget the more traditional cruise lines out there offering a fantastic product in their own way, it’s not all about the technology. Remember 2015 marks the 175th Anniversary of Cunard Line and there are an array of celebration cruises on offer including some short breaks on Queen Victoria herself, so come on, what are you waiting for!

Bye for now.
