Where shall I dine on the P&O Britannia?

Britannia (8)

As the new P&O Britannia set sail on its 2nd cruise out of Southampton for the Easter break, I was eagerly awaiting the reviews to appear on our website from the maiden voyage.

Overall it sounds like the ship get the thumbs up for design, entertainment, food and service.

The contemporary feel isn’t for everyone and a few felt there was very little wow factor.

The dining was mentioned on most reviews especially about the queues in the buffet restaurant Horizon’s.

A great way to avoid the queues is to enjoy breakfast in the main restaurant. You can order what you want from the menu and it is brought to you freshly cooked. There is more choice for lunch. We opted for the snack bar next to the pool where chicken, burgers, hot dogs and salads were served along with other snacks like pizza and pasta. There are plenty of options whether you are cruising for 7 nights or longer.

We had diner in the main dining room, the peninsular restaurant. The food was fantastic and so was the service. I loved the table décor. Simple but elegant!

For each course there was a choice of at least four options and in some cases we were spoilt for choice!

When I was on board, I managed to have a look in the speciality restaurants, but would love some feedback as to what you think.

Sindhu is an Indian restaurant created by Atul Kochar, a Michelin star chief. The restaurant is beautiful!

Comfy seating in booths for 4/6 and intimate tables for 2. There was a private area if you are a larger group. There are even sofas and a bar to enjoy a drink before/ after your meal.

The Glass house is another speciality dining which enjoys a position overlooking the atrium. I think the location may put some diners off this restaurant because there is a constant flow of people walking past going to the shops or stopping for a look over the atrium.  If you prefer a quieter experience the tables towards the window will enjoy a more low key experience. If you are a group there is a large table to seat over 20 which will be more private.

Java is opposite if you like a coffee after your meal or if you prefer something stronger, take the stairs down a deck to Brodie’s bar for a more lively drink. Find a table and you will be served

By far my favourite restaurant was the fine dining restaurant. Located on the Lido deck with spectacular views. The restaurant is beautiful and the menu sounded great too! Just a short stroll away is the crow’s nest again with those amazing views and perfect to enjoy a before or after diner drink.
