Rule Britannia!

The P&O Britannia set sail for its maiden voyage on 14th March and I was lucky enough to be able to visit the P&O Britannia last weekend for a sneak preview of what this wonderful ship has to offer.

You easily forget that a team of individuals have been working hard for 3 years designing every last detail of the ship and to see the result in all its glory must be some achievement. I met builders, architects, the Chairman of P&O and the CEO of Carnival Corporation. Some of my colleges met Eric Lampard and James Martin too! The passion they have is so inspiring!

The Starburst in the Atrium is some masterpiece. I spoke to David Dingle, P&O Chairman and he described the sculpture and how they designed it so that the colours can change depending on the time of day or even the time of year. Remarkable!

The decks on the ship are very well planned. You never feel like you are on a massive ship because the flow of each deck is very well designed and finding your way around is remarkably easy! Everything is where you expect it to be! The art around the ship is amazing. These special touches along with great lighting made the ship feel very contemporary but still offering the wow factor!

The only area a struggled to find was the cookery club! Located on deck 17 at the back of the ship next to the gym and kids club. Seemed an odd location but once inside you can understand why it was there on such a high deck when you looked out at the view, stunning!

Whenever I am on a cruise I always struggle to find my cabin and it was no different on this ship! My husband would say it’s just me but I am convinced there has to be a better way of finding your way home!

The cabins were beautiful, very cosy and the décor kept in line with the contemporary feel. My cabin was F603 fairly mid ship with a balcony.

There was plenty of room for the 2 of us. A vanity area with plenty of plug sockets and 2 full length mirrors.

The bathroom had a glass shower door which is always bliss if you have experienced a curtain for a 2 week cruise.

The balcony door stayed open so must be locked if you have children. The balcony was fairly small but from F deck you could see a lot of the lifeboats. Being a little higher would be better, you certainly would not notice them as much.

Are you due to cruise on Britannia?

What are you most looking forward to?

I would love to hear your thoughts
