Can you book on a cruise before you are born ?

I am always coming over new scenarios whilst working and this one came up for the first time recently.

I had a group of passengers wanting to cruise on a P&O sailing out of Southampton in 2015. One of the passengers who booked hasn’t even been born yet.

The cruise line states that infants must be over 6 months old at the beginning of the cruise which this infant will be, however the baby is not due to be born until late November 2014 with the sailing being late June 2015.

The first thing that I wondered is what the booking process would be as I would normally require full names and date of birth at the time of booking, obviously on this occasion this information couldn’t be confirmed.

Fortunately P&O allowed the name to be put as a “tba” and the date of birth estimated for the time being until the baby is born.

So if you are thinking of booking on a cruise with your unborn child then there shouldn’t be a problem (this may differ with certain fly-cruises)
