We’re gonna need a bigger trolley!!

When you plan your weekly grocery shop, have you ever thought about what it would be like to plan the meals for 5,700 people?

No, me neither, until I was shown around the galleys and storerooms on board MSC Preziosa earlier this month. Put it this way, I wouldn’t want to unpack that lot!

The sheer volume of food in the many storerooms and fridges and freezers was amazing. Mountains of meat and fish and fruit and vegetables as well as all the boxes and jars of goodies.

This is a side to cruising that I hadn’t seen before. Everywhere was immaculately clean and calm and organised. There was not a dirty plate in sight. The only smell was from the fresh bread constantly being baked.

I cater for 4 in my house and it’s chaotic when we get home from a supermarket with bags everywhere and having to rearrange fridges and freezers to put everything away.

I cannot imagine even beginning to plan this shopping list and especially for a long stretch at sea such as a transatlantic crossing. We ate some amazing meals on board and the buffet was always being replenished with fresh produce.

Well done MSC and thank you for fantastic food and a great insight behind the scenes.
