Mary Christmas!

lobby-470x626Some houses seem to be built for Christmas decorations, often with mature trees surrounding them just crying out to be adorned with lights.

I have just had the pleasure of sailing on the iconic Queen Mary 2.

QM2 was built to showcase Christmas. Traditional and beautiful and tastefully draped in garlands and decadent Christmas trees. The only thing missing were roaring fires which, from a safety point of view, I was happy were lacking.

This was a wonderful way to start the festive season topped off with a visit to Bruges Christmas market to stock up on delicious chocolates and sample some mulled wine. We sailed for 3 nights and this was the first short cruise I have been on with Cunard. There was no official formal night on board but there was a stunning array of dresses and tuxedos on display every evening which added to the ambience. I have sailed on a few other mini cruises where the general tone is to dress down so it was lovely to enjoy getting dressed up to dine in the grand restaurants. Call me a snob, but I personally don’t want to enjoy a silver-service meal staring at a football shirt.

Thank you Cunard for hosting our 2014 cruise.co.uk conference and making us so welcome.
