I love Christmas Eve!

I love Christmas Eve!

I make it a point to enjoy Christmas Eve every year. The presents are bought and wrapped, cards delivered, the house looks beautiful and enough food and drink for the next few months is bursting out of every spare space. Later today we will get together with family and friends but now is ME time!

Having been on 3 lovely cruises in the past 3 months, which was wonderful but tiring, then rushing around preparing for the festivities including several carol concerts and some volunteer charity work, it is time to unwind.

We always spend Christmas Day with my Italian in-laws in London. We will drive up there tomorrow for 2pm lunch which goes through 8 or 9 courses and plenty of wine till early evening. There will be 15 of us ranging in age from 80 to just 3 weeks so it will be mayhem! It will be loud and chaotic and we will all eat and drink way too much, but then my mother-in -law is a fantastic cook. Boxing Day is a chill day catching up on all the great TV from the day before. “Downton” and “Call the Midwife” are my must-sees! We are then catering for hoards of people on 27th and 28th.

It all starts to feel rather like a cruise when you are seeing different people and places every day and overindulging!! What I love too is the dressing up in all your best togs.

So….back to today, I am going to have a long hot bath, paint my nails, select a sparkly outfit or two, and then enjoy it all!!
