Walking up the Eiffel Tower to breakfast!

Tomorrow morning, I am travelling to Southampton with my colleagues to board the Queen Mary 2 for our 3 night Christmas conference cruise. I know, it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!! This will be my 3rd cruise in 10 weeks but as usual when about to set sail, I am very excited, especially as this will be my first time on board this illustrious vessel.

As soon as my shift is over this evening, I will be packing my novelty festive sweater ( now a cruise.co conference tradition) and my glitzy cocktail dress and lamenting the fact that those excess pounds gained over the last 2 cruises have not shifted.

This got me thinking about the size of these huge ships. QM2 at 1132 feet is longer than the Eiffel Tower is high. She is wider than 4 double decker buses parked nose to tail. She has 13 passenger decks all with stairs when the lifts are full.

So…if she is that long/wide/high, and you may have to walk the equivalent of the height of the famous Paris monument to breakfast (depending on where your cabin is!), why worry about those extra pounds as they will just melt away with all the exercise. That leaves lots of room for all those delicious chocolates in Bruges Christmas market.

That’s my excuse anyway!
