Hurricane Gonzalo disrupts UK sailings.

Cruise and Maritime Voyages has had to delay the sailing of the MV Funchal from Bristol today because of the Hurricane that has disrupted the Caribbean and Bermuda. You would think that here in the UK we are all safe and sound but Gonzalo has brought disruption to both Bristol and Liverpool ports. The ship was due to finish its 15 night Fjords cruise in Bristol today but instead she is sitting out the storm in the Isle of Man to save the effects of wind and waves. All passengers on board believe to be relaxed. The conditions at sea have forced her to try to dock in Liverpool instead, but conditions reported by the local authorities were far to dangerous to send out a pilot. Cruise and Maritime are still waiting word but conditions in the Irish Sea are still very bad.

I have personally booked two cabins on this sailing which was an amazing deal. But with one client travelling down from Leeds by train to then be coached to Liverpool I am slightly worried he may think he has not got such a good deal. We can only hope all settles this evening and they get to sail away tomorrow. The cruise was being sold at a reduced rate as passengers did not want  the hassle of the flight home from Lisbon after a Canary Isles itinerary. Cabins were being offered including flight home from as little as £399. Now we have no control over the weather and I feel this will be an amazing offer once under way.
