September, what a month that turned out to be. Hurricane’s, Typhoon in Japan and the collapse of budget airline Monarch. All everyday things in the life of a Travel Agent. It is when things like this happen we cannot stress enough how important it is to book with an ATOL and ABTA bonded agent. We have all worked so hard to ensure our clients have all got the holiday they originally booked at no extra cost, causing as little stress as possible. Holidays to some people are more than a holiday, it may be a once in a lifetime experience and so we do not want anything to go wrong. Here at Cruise.Co.UK we have received some amazing feedback from satisfied customers thanking us for just doing our jobs. Little do they know the stress at the other end of the phone, that is because we care and believe in our Company and appreciate all of our customers business.

I know we are all aware of the horrendous devastation caused by not just Irma but closely followed by Maria and Jose. Our heart goes out to the locals effected and we cannot comprehend what they have had to suffer.

Last time I told you all about the beautiful Celebrity Reflection and why I decided to take that cruise. (friends had never cruised before and wanted to play safe). I agreed on the ship with no hesitation however the itinerary did not excite me that much. I just had this impression that these standard ports of call would be working ports and very touristy. My how wrong was I.

Well where did those 11 nights go. Time passes so quickly when you are having fun as they say. Yes we most certainly did. Even John who said he would never cruise and would feel like he was on a glorified ferry !!!

As you read this post I will be sunning myself on board the beautiful Celebrity Reflection. I do love my job and this is the reason I do it. I am one lucky lady who gets to work for a living selling the one thing I love to do myself Cruising. This time we are doing the 11 night Western Mediterranean itinerary with a pre night at the San Giorgio hotel in the pretty port of Civitavecchia and then a further 2 nights in Rome. I have been to Rome before but this is a first for my husband. We are travelling with 6 of our best friends and one is also a first time cruiser. It as taken me 18 years to persuade him to come with us. John is like a lot of people who think cruising is a glorified ferry. I cannot wait to see his face when we walk into the grand atrium of this ship. Even his wife is telling me that he is getting a bit excited now. Can you imagine the pressure I am under to get this right.

Mediterranean cruises are calling into several ports depending on the size of the cruise ship. So Livorno is commonly know as the port to visit Florence and Pisa. This is a big industrial port so if you have been to both of those cities before not a lot for you to do.

I do not know if you all managed to watch the Dispatches programme on channel 4 last week but my, what a can of worms that opened. It went into great detail about the pollution and waste levels created by our Cruise Ships. They measured the air quality on board against the air quality within Piccadilly Circus in Central London and the ship came out over double. Claiming that one ship emits as much particulate matter as a million cars.

With another new ship launch planned for next year rumours are rife that she MAY be ready earlier than expected so there MAY be a pre Maiden cruise.
Avid cruisers always enjoy a Maiden voyage on a brand new cruise ship, but more recently this as not always been the case. We all know there is always a press cruise, travel trade cruise and a naming ceremony followed but the red carpet treatment to welcome the first passenger voyage. This is truly a memorable occasion and I have been lucky enough to have attend a few over the years in travel.

With so many new Ocean Ships being launched on a yearly basis it makes a nice change to tell you about my second passion. River Cruising. This is a different ball game all together with most boats only holding a couple of hundred people at the most the availability certainly leaves us searching for an operator with a cabin for me to book.
