Costa Diadema.

With all the excitement of the new ships Britannia and Anthem I thought I would tell you a little about Costa Cruise Line’s latest addition to its fleet. On the 30th October 2014 the Costa Diadema (Italian for Tiara ) will be delivered for her maiden cruise from Trieste to Genoa where she will be Christened on 7th November 2014.

Now Costa is not one of our biggest sellers and it was only last week whilst checking a cruise for one of my customers that I found myself talking to the Costa reservations agent, she was so helpful and buzzing with excitement about this lovely ship. I could not pronounce the name I will admit, and she then went on to tell me what it stood for in Italian and that the ship will be a Dream Class designed for emotional impact for guests making them feel they are in a dream world.   It’s main theme will be jewels so she will sparkle and amaze us all. Each deck is named after various cuts of diamonds. She will be 135.500 ton with 3724 guests.

For Costa she will have many new innovations including food and wine venues including Birreia (a beer house) Japanese Tappanyakai, Piazza Pizza and Gelateria. New entertainment which will include County Rock Club including classic rock, Star Laser room offering interactive laser games. Portobello Market Piazza is an 11840 square foot area with designer stores and retail outlets giving the feel of an upmarket department store. Oustide it has the largest deck area that goes all around deck 5 lined with bars and restaurants creating a Mediterranean summer mood.

Although I have worked in travel for 25 years now Costa has not always been my first choice. Also with the tragic accident a couple of years ago I feel I do not promote as much as some of the other lines.  With the market changing so vastly and we are all more acceptable to of multi cultural clients whilst on a cruise I now feel they are worth taking a look at. It may not have some of the things offered by other lines but for me being a girlie girl the glitz and glamour  will certainly do for me.  With good lead in prices and fantastic all inclusive drinks packages what more can you ask for.
