Finally Liverpool score

liverpool

So apparently the city of Liverpool has finally won it’s right to have a new cruise terminal, this has been an ongoing saga for way too long for my liking, do the cruise lines think that most of the cruising population live in the South Of England, well you would think that seeing as most of the cruise ports in the UK are down south, Dover, Portsmouth, Tilbury and Southampton. I always thought it a real shame that cruisers that lived north of the Watford Gap would need to travel long distances to get to one of the main cruise ports in the south. I believe Southampton has had it too good for too long and it’s about time there were other options in the north. I believe Southampton had got too big for it’s own boots, the city just can’t handle the amount of ships that sail in. On any one busy day there can be up to 6 ships in at one time, that’s nearly 40,000 cruisers not including crew members and visitors too.

Can you imagine all that extra traffic on the roads, the city just can’t handle it, I have seen it first hand and it is absolute chaos, so finally the UK has decided to spread the love around and offer the city of Liverpool a chance to have a piece of the cruise cake. Personally I think it’s a great idea and other city’s in the north of England she get involved. I suppose there is a lot of politics involved with these sort of things and building ports are very expensive.

However they do say “If you build they will come” and I truely believe that once the Liverpool cruise port is ready it will be very successful.
