Food Glorious Food!

I think you will all agree one of the best parts of a cruise is the food, after all we always put on weight with the enormous choices we have – don’t we?!

Recently on my chats to clients who have returned from their cruise I have asked them which restaurant was the best OR in there opinion which was the best food they had on a cruise? Very interesting replies actually and shows how very different we all are in taste.

Of course, I ask the question and the question is asked to me back. For me the Blu restaurant with Celebrity was wonderful. Seabourn food was perfect as well as Oceania cruises – in fact I find it hard to separate them but if I had too Oceania would just win by a margin.  I also have to say that I think Fred Olsen food is really really good. So now, over to you.

A few people have mentioned the main dining room on the Azura ship – “big portions” is something I have heard 3 times this week. Next one is the Windjammer buffet restaurant on the Independence Of The Seas – there are many of you who eat in here and do not even venture into the main dining room!  Another one is the Murano restaurant on the Celebrity Silhouette, got a couple of thumbs up. Then we have the Sindhu restaurant with P&O – many of you love the Indian food. Qsine with Celebrity also has a few points ( I did not like this one!) and also worth a mention was the Moderno Churrascaria with NCL.

There is a bit of a pattern here of course because many of these “favourites” of yours are actually speciality dining or 6 star cruise lines. Of course the 6 star cruises undoubtedly have the most fantastic food.  In the cruising world there is a kind of roll call of the best ones which again are voted by you the consumer but also the cruise industry. Here are the top ones as voted:

Oceania cruises (not a surprise!) – Red Ginger and Jacques come in very favourably. Crystal cruises with Silk Road and Prego getting top comments.  Seabourn (of course!). Disney Cruise lines gets a big thumbs up.  The Blue Iguana with Carnival also has some fans alongside the Fahrenheit 555 restaurant.  Dare I say it but Carnival does surprise me!

I am sure there are many of you who would disagree with these choices or have one which I have not mentioned – let me have them!!

Till next time x
