Princess Cruises become more British

Princess Cruises have announced this week that they have listened to their British passengers and are going to add more home comforts to their Crown Princess sailings from Southampton. They asked UK guests to name their home food favourites and are going to introduce the following on her UK departures.

. A curry night once per week with a selection of authentic dishes
· Fish & chips available every lunchtime
· A traditional roast and all the trimmings every Sunday
· A pub lunch on sea days, serving favourites including Lancashire hotpot, Cornish pasties and cottage pie
· Extended breakfast options such as English bangers, back bacon, kedgeree, crumpets and black pudding
· Afternoon tea, including scones, jam and cake, on sea days
· A cup of tea at hand 24/7 via the restaurants or room service
· British tea brands, for example Twinings
· Condiments and spreads including chutneys, Branston pickle, HP Sauce and Marmite

They are also expanding their range of beverages and will be adding more British beers and ales and a wider range of juices and smoothies for the more health conscious.

For the sport and culinary enthusiast Princess will be theming their offerings to coincide with the major sporting events. These will be shown on the big screen and  cruisers can sample delights whilst enjoying the sport. For instance Champagne, strawberries and Pimms will all be served during the Wimbledon fortnight.

This is a great idea from Princess who are trying to compete with traditional British favourites P&O,  and  it’s lovely to see a cruise line that values customer opinion.  Don’t worry if you like to sail from Southampton but like to try new things too whilst on holiday, Princess will still offer the international options that they do so well and are renowned for.
