Bake Off Star Beats World Record For Viking

Veteran celebrity baker MARY BERRY has now gone over to the  River Cruisers world bless her ! she has been around forever hasn’t she Mary-Rosa Alleyne Berry The English food writer, so who  is she and what is she  up to with Viking?

Born 24th March 1935 she is an English food writer and television presenter. Left college to study catering, She moved to France at the age of 21 years to study at LE  CORDON BLEU school,  she has published more than 70 cookery books and has also hosted several television series for BBC and for Thames Television. Mary also contributes to Woman’s Hour and Saturday kitchen and has been a judge on the BBC2 programme THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF.

So what is she up to now? Mary helped Viking River cruise break a Guinness World Record last week by inaugurating 18 ships in one day and just to let you know last year the company named just 10, so outstanding for a woman who is 79 years old. She was in Amsterdam when nine were named, after christening Viking Alsvin she said “I can see why people are so taken with River Cruising. As someone who is fascinated by travel, culture and food destinations, you certainly get a sense of the Viking spirit on board”.

Viking chief executive Torstein Hagen said River cruising has come of age. The company was founded in 1997  has grown very fast in the last 3 years and now has 50 ships in the fleet and is preparing to launch its first Ocean cruise ship in Bergen next May.

The company has gone from strength to strength in my opinion and  something we’ve all noticed almost daily the company advertise  on our T.V’s during popular television programmes advertising their first class product. It is easy to sell something which has a good reputation and an excellent and varied selection of ships I’m sure you would agree with me..
