Has The River Got Theme?

Its not easy to keep up with new ideas, the River Cruise Companies know this first hand & try constantly to up their game with exciting and new themes, As the ships go up and down the Rivers each week, they are looking for new and engaging themed departures for us. The River Cruise lines have been experimenting with themed River Cruises  for years-holiday-themed winter cruises came onto the scene several years ago as a kind of way  to extend the River Cruise season and add more interest to their brochures, but now they are getting more adventurous with themes which are more fun.

AmaWaterwaysHave  wine-themed cruises and they are now so popular they have had to dedicate a whole brochure to its Celebration of Wine cruises. The company also host Jewish Heritage cruises, chocolate-themed cruises (yummy) and now even knitting cruises – this one I find a little harder to “Get” in 2014- have we really got that many who enjoy knitting so much they want to go on a cruise surrounded by other knitters ?  but I guess it takes all sorts.  They have this year the “Knitting New Years’s Cruise”  and it will be this year on the Danube it showcase the latest in luxury yarns, forums on fashion trends and classes on new stitch patterns and technics.

Avalonhas also increased its special-interest cruises by 30% to meet demand which is fantastic adding to their programme beer-tasting, golf, wellness and World War I history cruises to an already big selection of themed cruises, They also in 2014 offer such delights as art and impressionism, authors, food, wine, music, Jewish Heritage and history, culinary and art. Sounds brilliant doesn’t it the amount interests are endless.

Uniworld Offer more timely themes such as the 70th anniversary of D-Day which I touched on a couple of weeks ago and include tours on their French Itineraries.

APT & Avalon The America side have endless themes on enhance their Mississippi itineraries. The American Queen has cruises which include baseball legends, Mardi Gras, music of the 1950’s and 1960’s, Elvis, bourbon and bluegrass and Mark Twain and Civil War Cruises.

So as you can see and I’m sure you would agree there is something for just about every taste on a River Cruise- Give me a call and I can discuss more options with you.
