Essential Vietnam & Cambodia Hints Part 1

A lot of clients over the last few months have been asking me questions on various subjects relating to APT and the Essential Vietnam & Cambodia programme. So I thought it would be a good idea to give you some hints to help you along, especially if this is something you would like to book in the future.

AIRLINE; Upto June 2014 the airline will be Thai who are will be flying from London Heathrow, the flights are booked in economy class if you are wanting to have the upgrade they dont offer premium economy or world traveller plus, it will be business class and the rates at the moment around £1800.00 each return. From June onward the airline will be Singapore airlines and the good news is they  offer some regional airports so not just London.

BALCONIES; The balconies on board La Marguerite especially on Catagory A & B are not large, they are big enough for one person at a time to go out on it, so if you are wanting to have the larger sizes similar to Ocean cruise ships you will need to go upto a suite.

BARTERING; I have over the years done a lot of Bartering in various counteries and have really it has never been an issue, however you are still encouraged to Barter when in Cambodia & Vietnam, but the horrible thing I found was that the locals are so poor anyway, it just didnt feel right for me to do, so I gave the asking price a lot of the time !!!!

CLOTHING; Virtually every call a client ask’s about the clothing required for the trip, I always say during the day time and dependant of what time of year you go… During they day time ladies I would suggest shorts or casual comfortable trousers you are stepping on and off of small boats as sometimes you will be moored in the middle of the river, also some of the excursions will include climbing steps etc, chaps I would say the same for the day time and comfortable tops, in some of the religious excursions ladies will be required to cover shoulders so a cardigan or shawl will be required. During the evening casual skirt/trousers and top for ladies, with a smarter dress or two for special nights, chaps trousers and shirts for the evening, when I went we had a couple of gala nights so a tie or two might be a good idea. But all of this is upto yourself and take what you most feel happy with.

FOOD; Breakfast – is buffet style both hot and cold with juices, yoghurts, cereals also, tea & coffee and lots of of it. Lunch – Fresh baked bread with butter, Appetizers to help yourself to, “Action Station” food is cooked for you to your requirements,Entrees a selection including Fish dishes, Vegetarian dishes, Meat dishes, Desserts always a choice of 4 to help yourself to.

Dinner – Appetizers a choice of 2, Soups again a choice of 2, Entrees Fish or Meat and again Vegetarian dish & again 4 choices of Desserts. Every single day every meal was superb and couldnt be faulted in anyway.

GOODIES; When we boarded the La Marguerite our tour guide said the kids you will be seeing along the way love to have sweets, crayons, pensils, books etc from you, they are really so poor their parents can not afford them and they are very hard to come by. So if possible it would be nice if you could get some of these before you set off, we found the children wanted to talk to you a lot purely to learn more English.

MEDICAL; As with any overseas trip it is advisable to contact your GP a good couple of months before you go as your records will be upto date with your details and at that stage your GP will be able to let you know what will be required.

I will be bringing you more info next week, if you would like to give me a call or ask me anything regarding the trip my number
