Its The Celebrity Life For Me!!

Well!  What a weekend I’ve had!  The moment I stepped aboard the newly refitted Celebrity Eclipse I could see why she is such a popular choice, and why she has won so many awards!  Wow!

Eclipse & Me

Firstly I love the layout of the corridors .  I liked that the cabins laid back from the corridor leaving room for luggage outside the door and entry into the cabin, without interfering with the flow of foot traffic from passengers & crew. (sad I know, but it’s the little things I notice).

I loved the spacious cabin – 1B Category on Deck 9 #9169. Plenty of hanging space, drawers, vanity unit stocked with kettle & drinks (Although the tea was dire…..).  And stepping out onto the balcony I could see instantly that there was plenty of room compared to Britannia’s.  The bathroom was very roomy and very nicely furnished.  Particularly the shower, no flimsy curtains, but a glass sliding door with shelving inside for all your bits & pieces.

I found the ship very easy to navigate around.  The Deck plans were clear and plentiful.  Unlike the Ventura & Britannia, which were confusing.

So, after unpacking and making our way up to the outdoor  Oceanview Bar for a quick drink, it was time to explore.

As it was our anniversary I wanted to check out the  Speciality Restaurants.  We looked at 2, Qsine, and the Tuscan Grille.  Both beautifully decorated and a menu to die for, albeit completely different to each other.  Qsine is a dining experience, unlike other restaurants on board.  Its more of a culinary journey for your senses!  Hard to explain, so here’s some pictures of some familiar foods served with an unusual twist.

Then of course the Tuscan Grille which is where we ultimately chose to dine for our special Anniversary meal.  An Italian Steakhouse serving delicious A La Carte meals with the most exquisite wines! with a modern contemporary feel.  Our Waitress for the evening took time to describe each mouthwatering dish and gave recommendations which made our final choice very difficult!

Our Romantic Meal in the Tuscan Grille

Oh and did I mention the view??  Fantastic view from the Aft of the ship, on a table for 2.  Couldn’t get more romantic!  Oh and to top it off, the Chef presented us with a beautiful cake to celebrate our anniversary!  What a lovely touch!

The cover charge for the Tuscan was $35.00 per person, and well worth the money.

After dinner it was up to the Sky Lounge for a relaxing drink and chill out listening to Bear Stevens the solo guitarist, playing easy listening songs. You’ll find fantastically comfortable seating.  Big comfy leather swivel chairs, sofas, and circular units for a large party. A great place to unwind and take in the views.

Day 2, after breakfast served in the Moonlight Sonata Main dining room, we made our way ashore to explore Le Havre.

As it was VE Day we stood and watched a Military March past & remembrance service before exploring the Harbour and taking a few snaps.

Then back to the ship to the Sunset Bar, up in the Lawn Club  (real grass for sitting on….) for a freshly made Burger and a beautifully made Vodka Lime & Soda!  (or as it turned out 3!)

We ate in the Moonlight Sonata restaurant in the evening, and I found the choice of food to be varied and the quality, very good.  I very rarely complain about my food!  Just grateful I don’t have to cook it! Service was quick considering the waiters/waitresses were serving 1200 guests in one sitting, and were all very friendly, polite and attentive.

Then onto the Martini Bar – my absolute favourite Bar on the ship! Its not so much a bar as an experience.  This is not the place to grab a quick drink and go.  There is seating around the bar and the waiters take great delight in showing off their bar skills!  Its great fun and riveting to watch, whilst downing a freshly made Vodka Martini, of which I believe I consumed at least 7!  My favourite – and ultimate downfall – was the Cherry Lane Martini made with Grey Goose vodka.   An innocent looking drink but with a lethal kick as I was to find out to my cost later in the evening!

This must be my 7th………

Its a very sociable bar, with people gathering 2/3 deep to take in the ‘show’ and fantastic atmosphere.  You will find it hard to leave once you’ve been drawn in! We met some great people here and had great fun trying out all the different variations of Martini!  Highly recommended!

I could go on and on about the Celebrity Eclipse.  Suffice to say she is definitely my favourite so far.  I cant wait for a return visit, only this time longer than the 2 nights I was on board to really enjoy all this classy and stylish ship has to offer.

There’s some great offers on at the moment, so if you havent experienced a Celebrity Cruise, click here for the latest deals http://goo.gl/4bUQg0 then give me a call!  We’ll meet in the Martini Bar!
