I’m off to the Races!

Yes folks!  I’m packing my ear plugs, as I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to Le Mans in France on board Fred Olsen’s Braemar next month!

Not only do I get the chance to mix with all the racing drivers (a man in uniform makes me go weak at the knees!) but  I’ll be cruising down the River Seine and visiting ancient Rouen!  Its a 4 night mini cruise departing from Dover, sailing over to Le Havre (I was there recently on the Eclipse – lovely little port), we’ll be taken to the Le Mans opening day where we can mingle and rub shoulders with the celebs, then a gentle cruise down the Seine to the ancient Normandy town of Rouen, where, incidentally,  Joan of Arc was burned alive for Heresy in 1431….

I’ve never been on board a Fred Olsen cruise ship before, and I have to admit to having a few preconceived ideas of what it will be like. I have always imagined it to be popular with the older generation, quiet, genteel, lots of reading and lectures……..I’m hoping and I’m sure, I will be proved wrong, as a few of my colleagues who have experienced a Fred Olsen cruise have absolutely loved it! and discovered that Fred Olsen cruises actually appeal to a broad age range, with something for everyone!  The Braemar carries 929 passengers, which is right up my street, as I’m not a fan of the mega ships. I dont know much more about her, which makes my impending trip all the more exciting!.

The Fred Olsen fleet comprises of just 4 ships, the Braemar, Balmoral, Boudicca, & Blackwatch.  Between them they cruise to 84 countries with 253 ports. There’s some great offers to be had for 2015 and the 2016/17 season.  Click here for the latest deals: http://www.cruise.co.uk/fred-olsen-cruises/.    And remember you can upgrade to an all inclusive drinks package for just £10 per person per night! Cheers!
