Infant Costs on Cruising

So take it from someone that does not have children when I say how I find it so wrong for cruise lines to charge an infant under the age of 2 so much. I know in a recent blog I stated that the price of cruise seems to be getting ever so much more due to the ever growing market of the on-board luxury experience.

However after looking into a family cruise package with a certain cruise line they wanted to charge £1799 for an infant who was not even 1 years old. I find this very disgraceful and so did the mother. To pay such a large sum of money for an infant who will not be using the facilities, services, food and entertainment seems to be a joke.

I know most cruise lines offer children activities such as clubs and experiences however for an infant this is somewhat limited to a baby sitter service.

High end cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean have such fantastic clubs and experiences for children so I can understand sometimes that the clubs and entertainment does not pay for itself and can find children prices more than average. But as I say this is all part of the on-board experience that your child will not forget.

Not all cruise lines follow this style though and find that cruise lines such as P&O seem to realise that parents should not be paying out dramatic costs for their children. Why can’t all cruise lines be like this and make it fairer on cruising families?

What are you thoughts? Some customers prefer adult only cruising which does not have this issue, however most customers would agree that in some point in their cruising history have probably paid more than they would normally for a child.
