Easter Break in the Lakes

Spring is here, the sun is shining, lambs are running around the fields and its Easter this weekend .

I am heading north on Thursday evening to the beautiful Lake District and it looks like the weather will be good.

We are heading first to friends in Preston and Ice, the dog, is coming too, his bag is already packed and he has a doggy Easter Egg for Sunday !

On Friday we will make our way up towards Grasmere, one of my favourite places in the Lake District. Situated at the foot of some spectacular fells, it also has its own lake, and  also Wordsworth’s grave in the churchyard.  There are many excellent walks include following Red Bank Road and then the footpath along the west shore of the lake towards Rydal Water. In the summer you can hire rowing boats on the lake, but it may not be warm enough for that  this weekend.

Wordsworth lived in Rydal Mount which is open to the public, and Dora’s Field, named after his daughter, is next to the church and is covered in daffodils in springtime. Dora`s Field is also a National Trust property.

On Sunday I`ll be heading back towards home, stopping off at my friend`s daughter`s  16th birthday party on the way.

The weekend will no doubt soon be over and I will be back in the office at Cruise.co.uk  on Tuesday morning.
