Jamie Oliver Join`s Forces with Anthem of the Seas

Royal Caribbean have announced that their Celebrity Chef on board the fabulous new ship, Anthem of the Seas will be the UK`s own Jamie Oliver.

Now, if you`ve read my blog before, you will know that I love food! Most types of food really, my only dislikes being melon and marzipan! I love fish and chips and had probably the best I`ve ever eaten last Saturday during me trip to the Lake District.

The Trough of Bowland is a beautiful stretch of rugged, unspoilt countryside covering 312 square miles of rural north Lancashire. We had lunch at the Inn at Whitewell, a lovely country pub, restaurant and hotel. In the 1300’s The Inn at Whitewell was just a small manor house is  part of the Duchy of Lancaster Estate.

Not only is the setting stunning but the food is good too and plenty of it, definitely worth a visit if you are ever in that part of the world.

Jamie Oliver`s food is completely different, of course, and on Anthem his ” Jamie`s Italian” will compete with the Celebrity Chefs on board P&O`s new Britannia. Britain’s favourite family chef has chosen Royal Caribbean International for a reason and passengers will love his reinvention of  Jamie’s Italian at sea.

I have had the opportunity to dine at Jamie`s Italian in Milton Keynes several times, its not exactly the prettiest of locations, in the middle of the shopping centre, but the food is good and the staff lovely, you can expect Jamie to make sure that his standards are maintained on board Anthem of the Seas.

Dining on Anthem and Quantum of the Seas will be known as ” Dynamic Dining” with no main restaurant or fixed seating for dinner. Instead there will be 5 complimentary restaurants to replace the one large dining room

American Icon Grill – just what its says on the tin, and lost of it!

Chic – serving Nouvelle Cuisine style food

Silk – the Asian option – looks excellent

The Grande – this is formal dining every evening

Coastal Kitchen – for suite guests only

Jamie`s Italian will be one of the speciality restaurants with a cover charge – not too expensive, but no details of the charges as yet.

Reservations will be made either on your cruise personaliser or on board, it will be best to book to avoid disappointment especially on short cruises.

So why did Jamie chose Royal Caribbean for his first venture at sea? Well because he has sailed with them since being a little boy!
