The Cruise Ship Cake Off!

Never mind the Great British Bake Off – P&O and Norwegian Cruise Lines are going to have a Great Cruise Ship Cake Off!

If you have read my blog before you will know that I love food, especially cakes and am a huge fan of Eric Lanlard who has his Cake Boy boutique  and shop in London. He is also the star of several TV cooking series such as Glamour Puds and Baking Mad, his cakes and puddings are to die for.

P&O have announced that his gorgeous cakes will be a feature in the Marketplace on new ship Britannia in 2015 – he will also be a champagne afternoon tea in one of her restaurants.

Not to be outdone, Norwegian Cruise Lines have announced that US Master Baker Buddy Valastro will now feature his incredible dessert collection on all Norwegian ships, fleetwide, following the success of his ventures on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway.

To be honest I`ve never heard of him ! So a little research is necessary – just to see if he can match up to Eric! He`s known as the Cake Boss and is an Italian American celebrity chef, entrepreneur, and reality television personality. He is a  fourth generation baker born into his parents  business Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, Hew Jersey. He is also star of the Cake Boss, an American reality television series, situated in Carlo’s Bakery.

His cakes look quite typically American with lots of cupcakes and bright colours, in contrast to Eric`s more elegant creations.

So let battle commence but I bet Buddy has never made chocolate Faberge eggs while sailing into St Petersburg for the Captain of Emerald Princess!

I`d love to  know who your favourite chef is.
