Princess Cruises Unveils New Signature Seafood Restaurant

Princess Cruises Unveils New Signature Seafood Restaurant

The cruise line has joined forces with Award-Winning Chef, Rudi Sodamin, to debut “The Catch by Rudi” on Enchanted Princess.

Also coming soon to Majestic Princess, Sky Princess and Discovery Princess, The Catch by Rudi is the very first of Princess’ restaurants to be primarily devoted to seafood cuisine.

With the menu offering a completely fresh take on seafood, guests can expect contemporary interpretations of classic dishes, fusions of international influences, creative presentations, and an engaging dining experience.

The new restaurant replaces Bistro Sur la Mer on selected Princess Cruises ships, and is set to make a tremendous splash with a fantastic menu that will appeal to both seafood connoisseurs and those who simply prefer “surf and turf”.

“Chef Rudi is the foremost cruise culinary artist in the world with more than four decades of experience spanning the world’s best cruise lines – Princess Cruises, Cunard Line, Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line, as well as Royal Caribbean and Norwegian American Cruise Line.”

John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises

Priced reasonably at just $39 per person (and available as a speciality dining option within the Princess Premier premium add-on package), guests will experience a unique and distinctive dining journey. With headline dishes including “Beauty on the Plate” and “Tower of Taste”, the intriguing menu features only the freshest, sustainably sourced seafood from local ports of call.

Not only will diners get to sample some of the finest flavours from the ocean, but they will also be greeted at their table by a special cocktail created by mixologist, Rob Floyd.

As well as serving up beloved classics, the new speciality dining location also includes playful takes on a selection of these go-to dishes: such as Asian-fried calamari, lobsters with garlic butter crust and stunningly presented signature seafood inventions from the chef’s personal repertoire.

Culinary icon and head of culinary arts for Princess, Chef Rudi Sodamin, said, “The Catch by Rudi is my way of combining my love of food, seafood and people with my incredible culinary journey at sea and my lifelong history of cooking seafood across the globe to delight Princess guests.

Everything we are doing with The Catch is about ‘catching’ that precious moment we call ‘now’—and doing it in such a memorable and unexpected way that makes you say ‘wow!’”

Although the menu is largely focused on seafood dishes, The Catch by Rudi also features alternative offerings to appeal to other flavour palettes and preferences, including vegetarian dishes and signature beef classics, like steak frites.

For vino lovers, all wines will be hand-picked to pair with seafood, and smartly uniformed waitstaff will be on hand to make knowledgeable recommendations from the great wine-growing regions across the globe. The experience will be all about comfort, fun and engagement; wine selections will not intimidate, but be comfortable for guests to select and experience for themselves.

“Guests who experience The Catch by Rudi are in for something truly special,” said Sami Kohen, vice president of food and beverage for Princess Cruises.

“The meal will offer a number of surprises—from before the meal starts, through the unparalleled desserts that are as fanciful as they are delicious and come with a special gift at the end of the meal,” he added.

Available onboard Enchanted Princess as she emerges from dry dock on 15th April, The Catch by Rudi is located across from the guest services desk on Deck 5, as Sabatini’s moves to Deck 7 in the piazza, where Bistro Sur la Mer was previously located.

As for the other three ships awaiting the arrival of this speciality seafood restaurant, The Catch will be added to Majestic Princess on 5th May (just in time for its Alaska season!), Sky Princess on 7th May and Discovery Princess in the coming autumn.

More new features launching on Enchanted Princess

Not satisfied with just one new dining facility onboard, Enchanted Princess will also welcome a contemporary new Irish Pub on 15th April, synonymous with the exuberance and vivacity of the vintage Irish pub experience.

Named O’Malley’s, this authentic space will feature traditional Irish music, interactive entertainment and extraordinary traditional food options: including scotch eggs, fried pickles and pan-fried Guinness chicken. All of this will, of course, be served up alongside favourite Irish beers, ales and whiskeys.

This new pub venue will also offer tasting experiences that include an introduction to the history of Irish Whiskey, as well as alternative Guinness cocktail classes.

In addition to this, the iconic Princess Piazza will now deliver the full experience of a traditional Italian town square, with Deck 7 becoming “Settimo Cielo”; a space where guests will find an array of Italian eats and refreshing beverages. The Gelateria on deck 5 will only add to this Italian flair as the only authentic Italian gelato experience outside of Italy.

Finally, Princess is also adding the world-famous ‘Salty Dog Café’ to the Lido Deck on Enchanted Princess. Here, guests can enjoy original menu items like the Prime Burger and Chicken Strip Basket, while learning about the café’s iconic legend of Jake the dog.

“We’re confident our guests will absolutely love the changes they’ll find aboard Enchanted Princess and how we’re embracing our Italian heritage, expanding our offerings with great seafood, injecting some international spirit with an Irish Pub, and bringing a laid-back resort vibe with good eats to the Lido Deck.”

John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises
