Home for the Summer Holidays!

As mentioned in a previous blog we do not have a cruise booked for this year. The last time we were home for the summer holidays was in 2013. We live in a beautiful part of the country and only 5 minutes walk to the beach and there is so much happening here!

Every year Bournemouth puts on a fantastic air show and the main stars are the Red Arrows. The Air Festival is an annual air show held along the coast at Bournemouth, in Dorset, England. It has featured aircraft from the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy, as well as civil aviation displays. Since its formation in 2008, the festival claims to have entertained over nine million people.

The biggest drawcard besides the Red Arrows is that it is a free 4-day festival and takes place over the sea and the last time we were able to see this amazing air show was in 2013!

Another big event on our local calendar during the summer holidays is the New Forest Show which takes place in Brockenhurst in the heart of the National Park, the New Forest Show offers visitors 30 acres of showground for the whole family to explore.

Showcasing the very best of the New Forest and Hampshire, the Show brings together livestock and equine competitors, local producers, local businesses all topped off with lots of delicious food and drink and an exciting timetable of main ring attractions. No matter whether you want to socialise with friends and family, taste delicious food and drink, learn about the New Forest or take advantage of networking opportunities, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show.

If animals are what you’re looking for you’ll be spoilt for choice. From the Cattle, Sheep and Equine Competitions. As well as the animals there’s countryside traditions and demonstrations, international show jumping, crafts, antiques, art, show ring displays, show gardens, flowers, vegetables, a huge variety of food & drink available, local produce, animals galore and over 600 trade stands.

The queen usually makes an appearance and we have been privileged enough to be at the show on the day she visited.

So besides the beaches, the forest and all the festivities and festivals who would want to leave this beautiful part of the world in the Summer? Well, I have to admit we have booked a 14-night cruise on Independence of the Seas for July 2020!
