Half term holiday fun.

My daughter is back to school this week for her final term of the year! This year is going so quickly! Summer holiday are only 7 weeks away!

I did look to book a cruise for a week. The cruise I had my eye on was the Independence of the seas from Southampton sailing to Cork in Ireland and Le Harve in France.

It clashed with Whit Friday weekend, so I decided to book my cruise in August instead.

I still took the week off to enjoy some time as a family! All in all, the week has been great! Weather fantastic and plenty to do!

Whit Friday was a washout! To be honest the weather leading up to 26th May had been fantastic and even after it was lovely. The rain started in the evening of the Thursday and it didn’t stop all day!

My dad and uncle Mike!

Where I live in Saddleworth, between Manchester and Leeds, the villages celebrate Whit Friday with brass bands that compete in each village for first prize. Its such a shame because the bands march down the roads and play their well-rehearsed music. The weather was shocking! Imagine trying to read your music, play and march at the same time? They did a brilliant job!

The bands come from all over the country.

After the bank holiday we took a day trip to Blackpool! I have not been to Blackpool for years! Who knew Blackpool was awarded a blue flag for fabulous beaches?

My sister, niece and nephew came with us. We parked at the Sandcastle which is opposite the Pleasure beach on the South shore. The South pier was just a few minutes’ walk away. We went on the carousels, a rather large bouncy slide and a log flume which totally drenched us!

We enjoyed a picnic on the beach – the tide was in, so my niece took a dip! The water was way too cold for the rest of us! We then walked 1.5 miles to the central pier. It was so hot, and we were ready for ice creams and lollies when we got there!

The tide had gone out slightly for our return journey, so the walk back on the beach was much fresher! We had a little time to buy some souvenirs and then it was time to head home.
