Cruise lines start returning to Turkey after a break following security concerns

Many cruise lines stopped visiting Turkey itineraries after the military coup attempt in July of 2016 due to security concerns and Turkish calls on cruise itineraries are certainly a lot less common than they used to be.

It seems that some cruise companies are now starting to re-introduce some Turkish ports of call with the majority now calling at Ephesus (Kusadasi) after security experts have given the all-clear.

There still seems to be a massive drop in Turkish cruise destinations compared to what there used to be though. Istanbul used to have many cruises sailing from and stopping there and stops like Marmaris are now very rarely stopped at.

Turkey is obviously a massive country and common sense would say that travelling to the Syria border is not the best of ideas but are other destinations, especially the coastal ones still much more of a security concern than most other places?

I personally think Turkey is a great holiday destination and I have enjoyed lots of great holidays there and certainly have no concerns about travelling to most of its resorts.

What do you think? Should more Turkey travel restrictions be lifted, or is it too soon?
