Celebrity new ship Apex to sail from Southampton in 2020

Celebrity Cruises have had a lot of hype and interest surrounding the launch of their newest class of ship, Edge Class. With the first ship Edge launching at the tail end of this year bookings are very busy but there will be plenty of people including many clients of mine that will not be able to experience her to begin with as they would need to fly and can’t or won’t do that.

Fortunately there has been some excellent news from Celebrity Cruises in regards to their second Edge Class ship, Celebrity Apex. Celebrity have announced that Apex will be christened in Southampton (first ship with Celebrity in over 10 years) and have some sailings based there in 2020. There hasn’t been news of exact dates or itinerary’s at this early stage so we will have to wait for that.

Celebrity will of course have another ship sailing out of Southampton at the same time so an extra choice for cruise passengers will be good to have.

Carrying 2,900 passengers, it will be almost identical to to the Edge. Among those first-at-sea features will be a movable deck cantilevered off the side of the ship; cabins with “infinite” balconies designed to blend indoors and outdoors with bi-fold doors; and a Resort Deck, which features a large pool flanked by sculptural trees and two “martini glass” Jacuzzis that overlook the deck below.
