Our Trip On Fred Olsen’s To The Fjords!

Well I am back after 7 nights on board the Boudicca with Fred Olsen !

I have to say I have had the most amazing time ever. A massive thank you to LIsa for taking me and what laughs we have had it has been amazing !

It was a very early start for me on Saturday 28th April, up at 5.30am then a taxi off to Manchester Piccadilly, train was at 06.35am. I arrived in Dover for about 10.30am to be picked up by Lisa who I was cruising with. With us both arriving in so early we thought we would have a bit of a nosy around Dover, enjoyed the sights and a quick drink before heading off to park the car. We had used Port Parking which was just fantastic, all you do is park your car then they shuttle you to the port, simple and no hassle no waiting around, they are ready to meet and greet when you arrive.

When we arrived at port, the shuttle service brings you right to the reception area, they off load your luggage for you, the port attendants take it off you and you just check in, again nice and smooth no hassles, it is so much easier departing from a  UK port with no carrying of your bags, especially with mine, it was like I had 2 dead bodies in it with the weight it was haha.

I have cruised on the Boudicca before which was about 4 years ago. This time though she had been just refurnished, so I was quite excited to see what changes Fred Olsen had made.

After a very smooth check in we arrived at our cabin. I have to say we were really impressed, we were in an ocean view cabin on deck 4, cabin number 4039, near the aft on the ship with 2 large port holes, loads of space for all our luggage. All the rooms had been furnished with new carpets, along with new soft furnishings and lamps, they all have mini-fridges, safes, tea/coffee facility, hairdryers  and interactive smart TVs.So after unpacking we decided to have a bit of a tour around the ship to see what other improvements they had done on board.

Up on deck 9 they have a beautiful seating area with rattan sofas and chairs, a nice pool with the Marquee bar, which wasn’t open due to weather conditions.

On deck 10 they have a fantastic new gym, which is  equipped with all the up to date exercise machines, I would have had a go at the spinning machine but yes I forgot my gym wear.

The Morning Light Pub on deck 6 had been converted into the ‘Oriental Tea Room’, serving exotic teas and other Oriental specialities, with a Far Eastern influence and exotic décor. The Heligan Room was converted into the ‘Indian Ocean Restaurant’, with an Indian Ocean theme, offering the same style of imitate dining space. I have to say we were both very impressed with what Fred Olsen had done on board, it was a massive improvement.

After having a good nosy around, we were both shattered and needed a few drinks to start our cruise off in style !

At 5pm we set off from Dover, we were both so excited to see the Fjords, I had only cruised to Bergan before so was really looking forward to an exciting 7 days ahead !

Keep an eye out on my blog ! I have some fantastic pictures of the Fjords to share with you !
