TIPS TIPS TIPS

Last week MSC announced they will now be including gratuities for all new sailings made from the end of June 2019. MSC will call these the service charges.

This follows on from P&O Cruise line who from May 2019 have also introduced cruises with the gratuity included in your cruise fare.  Another favourite line that includes tips is Marella (formally Thomson cruise)

So what happens now?  The larger cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity, NCL and more are still charging on board gratuities and these can be anything from $11-$16 per person per day, so will they now include gratuities in the standard cruise fare?

I am a firm believer in tipping the person I feel  has given me a great service, but now if I was to choose a cruise line knowing that the tips are covered It helps me manage and budget my cruise holiday a little better.  Knowing I wont have any extra costs/charges added to my account I think is a great idea.  Lets hope that all cruise lines will follow MSC and P&O this way.

What are your thoughts on tips?  are you happy to have them included in your fare or would you rather still pay on board your tips?  let me know your thoughts.

Till next time
