THOMAS COOK SADLY ARE NO LONGER TRADING

This week is another sad week within the travel industry.  It is a well known fact that Thomas Cook have been in a little financial trouble over the last few years, so with all the media hype last week, all we could do is sit back and wait and find how this was all going to end.

Last minute negations on Sunday 22nd September 2019 to  try and raise a further £200 million to keep trading sadly did not reach a satisfactory outcome and Thomas Cook sadly closed for business after 178 years.

As I awoke Monday Morning, Social media and news channels were going crazy that at 2am Thomas Cook had officially called in the administrators.  WOW I actually thought this cannot be happening, a huge tour operator with many loyal staff and existing customers were really and truly going to suffer at this huge loss.  My thoughts immediately  turned to sadness with the fact that so many of the the staff  were waking up Monday morning without a job.

Thomas Cook Package holidays are all covered  by ATOL .  ATOL means the company holds an  Air Travel Organiser’s Licence. This is a government run financial protection scheme which is operated by the CAA, Civil Aviation Authority.  The CAA immediately launched operation Matterhorn to get 160,000 UK passengers repatriated back to the United Kingdom with as little impact as possible.  The repatriation started on late afternoon on Monday 23rd September and is ongoing until Sunday 6th October 2019.  Anyone overseas on a Thomas Cook package holiday are advised to visit the following website for the most up to date information.  https://thomascook.caa.co.uk/

Customers who have yet to depart on holiday will be able to claim money via the CAA.  Please do check with your agents for the most up to date information and if you wish to find alternative holidays.

If you have been effected and are looking to try and get away on a Cruise please do contact me on 0333 300 2896 and I will be happy to help as much as I can
