Watching The Cruise and Jayne McDonald did not float my boat

Last week saw the return of two cruising programmes –  The Cruise which was shown on Thursday on ITV, and Cruising with Jayne McDonald was shown on Channel 5 on Friday – and I have to say I was really disappointed with both.

The Cruise is a series showing life onboard a Princess Cruise ship and for this series, we are following the crew of the Majestic Princess – which looks a beautiful ship and is showing its voyage from Shanghai to Sydney, which I was excited to ready about as an Asia cruise is on my wishlist for 2020. But on last weeks episode we didn’t get to see or experience of the ports of call and just really focused on two assistant cruise directors try to outdo each other in entertaining the guests onboard, and a young couple celebrate a birthday – and whilst every birthday is special it wasn’t a big birthday like a 40/50th etc and was just a 24th,  and whilst Princess recognise birthdays with door banners, card and balloons,  I think if the cameras hadn’t been there the ship and crew would not have gone over the top like they did with the roses, singing and clearing the restaurant section just for them. I think the key question on everyone’s lips is where is the star of the last few series – Timothy – surely they haven’t made a series without him starring in it?

As for Cruising with Jayne McDonald half, the programme was based on her and her self image and watching her trying on wetsuits and going to have holistic therapies, in the last third she finally boarded a ship – which was a Princess ship again and in my opinion quite frankly has done them no favours as so far she hasn’t shown off the ship very well apart from that she is unable to find her way around the ship despite having told us she had been on many cruises. I am hoping the next episode will show more of the ship and the ports and not just than her.

Did you watch either programme and what were your thoughts – am I being over critical or was it just not showing cruising off in a good light?

Have a great couple of weeks. If you are still looking for your 2019 or 2020 cruise then please do not hesitate to contact me.
