Happy New Year Resolutions

I don’ know about you but I always arrive at the time of the year and panic ! ‘My new years resolutions’ What shall I do?? So I am prepared this year and then thought maybe my list might inspire someone else to set a few achievable and not too hard on oneself targets. At least when i look at my list I should be able to achieve some of them and not get into the first week and break them. (hope they help you too).

1.From now on I am leaving my phone in my handbag at dinner and making sure its a rule if we go out to dinner to keep them tucked away. All to often I have witnessed people sat at the table with that bored look on their face whilst their partner, husband, wife or friend is texting someone or worse still having a conversation on the phone. If I have taken time to prepare a meal or go out for a meal with someone I obviously want to spend time with them.

2.Make time for the gym, This is a biggy for me, I am overweight and unfit. I joined and have been paying for a membership since August and been maybe 10 times maximum. (Need this to be unbroken, maybe should have been first!)

3.Speak to my parents more often. I have been living in Spain and spoke more to them both when I lived there. The worst thing in the world is to find out your Dad has been poorly and you didn’t even know. I guess ‘you never told me’ doesn’t cut it when you haven’t called for 4 weeks.

4.Do one random act of kindness every week. I am sure that me being me, I do this anyway but thought it might be good for me to actually take not of these things.

5.Make a to do list. As I have just started my new role with Cruise.co.uk, I need to be more organised. I have realised my memory is not what it used to be, so this is the best way not to get to the end of the week and realise, I should have done something back on Monday. (diary at the ready).

6.My friends and Family gave me this one, Learn to say NO!! I am the worlds worse for taking on to much and then stressing over it after. It really is ok to say ‘actually No, I can not do that!’

7.Try and do  at least one new thing every 2 months, maybe cooking class or a walk on the beach. You get the idea.

8.And finally Setting myself goals for the year. We had the pleasure of a wonderful inspirational guest speaker at our cruise conference on Fred Olsen’s earlier this December. He has made me think about what I have all ready achieved and what more I want for my family and friends , and its all about setting goals. Remember to make them achievable and realistic and measurable, But most of all remember to Stretch yourself

So there we are, my list of New Years Resolutions. Not the usual don’t drink, don’t smoke and loose weight, these are life choices and so terribly bad when you fail, so this year don’t put them out there. You might surprise yourself.

happy new year from me

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL xx
