Forget Love Island its all about Glove Island

As we continue with the hottest summer on record here on good old blighty it seems our devoted island nation have developed a fondness for Love Island. For those of you that may not know the show is a reality tv series set on The Island of Mallorca. it shows some stunning coast lines and gorgeous coves which are all too appealing but its clear to me that in all the 30 degree heat we have been experiencing that sometimes its islands on a cooler climate that appeal to people when we are experiencing this kind of weather.

I personally have seen a vast increase in the number of customers looking to escape the heat and pick a destination that has colder if not Artic conditions I have aptly named “Glove Island” Brilliant I know!

It seems the big draw during the winter months are the Aurora Borealis (The Northern Lights) these appear in the Artic Circle from October to Late March. We have a huge number of cruises that have arranged their itineraries to give customers the best chance of seeing the Lights.

For years these were reserved for smaller expedition like cruise lines such as Hurtigruten however we have seen P&O as well as Princess and Marella put a huge focus on this trend of creating a winter spectacle in the region.

The key is finding a longer Fjords trip that does 11-12 nights as this will give you enough time for over night stays in ports that allow for the Lights such as Tromso or Alta these are colder Northern most points in Norway and will offer you the best chance of seeing natures Light shows.
