Movie Night?

There is nothing my family love more than chilling out on a Saturday or Sunday night, curtains closed, eating microwave popcorn and watching a movie. Its become a weekend tradition in our house. Although there is something my two boys love slightly more – movies under the stars on a cruise. We often end up missing the shows and evening entertainment, because for them this is the perfect treat. Sun loungers, blankets, hot chocolate and even pop corn and pizza bought to you whilst watching a film under the stars in the middle of the ocean!

Fantastic entertainment has always been a trademark of cruising, and the theatres and cinemas that show the films are just as important as the films themselves.

Not many cruise ships have their own cinemas, but all four of the Disney Cruise Line ships have their own Buena Vista theatre. Carnival Cruise Line’s newest Carnival Vista with the first IMAX cinema at sea. British Cruise lines haven’t forgotten either , There is a cinema on Arcadia, Aurora and Oriana.  Azura has an outdoor cinema SeaScreen.

We’ve done Royal Caribbean and Princess over the last 2 years and my two boys favourite has to be with Princess Cruises, doesn’t matter if its cold up on deck, they wrap up in blankets. If you do fancy just a quite night in , in your cabin, there are movies on the TV for you to enjoy in the comfort and privacy of your cabin. I will say Royal Caribbean charged for movies (other than the ones playing on movie screen) in the cabin whereas Princess didn’t!  You will of course find details in your cabin and/or on the daily newspaper produced by your cruise line. There’s so much going on in life, its sometimes nice to slow the pace and put on a film, at home or at sea.

My last experience of this was onboard Caribbean Princess in the Western Caribbean, so we were up on deck until gone midnight watching the latest movies in lovely warm conditions which were a little different from the last time on the same ship in the Norwegian Fjords.  The movies are the latest blockbusters too, these are a few we’ve watched on our last 2 cruises – Black Panther, Spiderman, Transformers, Cinderella, Beauty & Beast, Avengers, Coco plus more.

Also during the daytime the screens are on, playing live concerts such as U2, Pink, Rolling Stones, or home video funnies like You’ve Been Framed or documentaries off National Geographic / Animal Planet.  It gives you something to watch whilst sat by the pool with a beer!

You can do the shows as well as catch a film, you just need to use your daily planner a put a schedule together!

If you’re looking for a ship with cinema let me know, i’ll be happy to check for you.
