A Lovely Family Celebration!

Nothing to do with cruising at all this week! I just wanted to share with you the lovely evening we had on Saturday. You may recall that my daughter and her boyfriend got engaged back in March, on a beach in Cornwall, well on Saturday evening friends and family got together to celebrate the occasion.

The weather was perfect, if not a little too warm. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening. We have a wonderful local country pub, in the Worcestershire countryside, which has a teepee in the pub garden and my daughter had booked this for the evening. The pub is situated right next to the Worcester to Birmingham Canal, a really beautiful location. This part of the canal is famous for its flight of locks. Tardebigge Flight, as it is known, is the longest in the country, comprising 30 locks over a two-and-a-quarter-mile stretch – I bet that is hard work getting through that lot! A pint would definitely be needed at the end of it. There were plenty of canal boats moored up alongside the pub so I imagine that is what all the owners or holidaymakers were doing. A slightly different cruising holiday to what we are used to – no butler service!

Anyway, we had a splendid evening with plenty of food and drinks and plenty of merriment in this gorgeous setting. We just have to hope that the weather is as kind on the day of the wedding next year.

Since I last posted, the wedding has been booked for Friday 30th August next year. Again we will be at a local venue, a beautiful old farmhouse in the Worcestershire countryside, quite close to home. One of the barns has been converted into a wedding chapel which is absolutely beautiful, and then following the ceremony we will be in a marquee overlooking the countryside. It is a perfect location for a wedding – please just hope that the sun shines! I will, of course, post photos of the day but that won’t be for a while yet.

Next time we will be back to the world of cruising. For now though, enjoy this fabulous spell of gorgeous weather we are having!
