The Key to Unlock Exclusive Royal Caribbean Perks!

Have you heard about Royal Caribbean’s  Exclusive VIP Access to on board benefits?  Its called ‘The Key’  This unlocks premier access to unique experiences and special amenities during your cruise .  It includes a welcome lunch at Chops Grille, Jamie’s Italian or Giovanni’s Table; You get private hours at onboard activities like the Flowrider, Rock Climbing Wall; and  access to VIP seating section at shows and more!

Sounds great doesnt it?  Too good to be true? Not quite, as there is a cost (of course!) Price for ‘The Key’ start from $24.99 per person per day, and here’s what you get for your exclusive daily access:

The Key experience is available on all ships except for Quantum, Voyager, and Majesty of the Seas.:

  • Priority check-in at boarding
  • Carry-on bag drop off and delivery to stateroom (two bags per guest).
    • Carry-on luggage will be delivered to your stateroom
  • Exclusive lunch at speciality dining venue.
    • Choice of Chops Grille or Giovanni’s Table or Jamie’s Italian depending on your ship)
    • You can select your venue of choice once onboard.
  • VOOM Surf & Stream 1 Device high speed internet.
  • Private hours at onboard activities including Rock Climbing, FlowRider and more.
    • The private hours schedule will be provided at check-in.
  • Priority debarkation and tender service from ship to shore in port
  • Reserved VIP seating at shows in the Main Main Theatre, Aqua Theatre and Studio B.
  • Priority disembarkation with exclusive a la carte breakfast from 6:30am – 9:00am

But the question is – Is it worth the cost??  Well, only you can decide whether its value for money.  With these marketing ‘gimmicks’ the idea is to take advantage and use all the extra benefits it offers.  This one is mainly built around the WIFI access, which is around $13.99 per device per day, so that leaves  $11 for the rest of the perks.  But remember to times that cost by the duration of your cruise.

If you are the type of cruiser that likes to be ‘front of queue’, and likes the priority check in (usually only offered to Diamond & Diamond+ members) and don’t want to wait around for a Tender, then ‘The Key’ could be a real benefit. Equally, if you dont like hanging around to ride the Surf Rider, or climb The Wall, or have front row seats to the latest Broadway Show, then this is definitely worth the money.  Especially for families!  As at certain times of the day, blocks of time will be exclusively reserved for those with ‘The Key’.

I think its a great idea, and I’m sure will be taken up by a large number of regular Royal Caribbean guests.

What do you think? Would you buy ‘The Key’?  Undecided? Watch this video ‘Is The Key Worth It?
