Flora! Flora! Flora!

Now I can’t tell the difference between an exotic flower and a weed.  My garden is testament to that, but I do love to wander around the garden centres, looking at all the beautiful flowers and plants.

I especially love the perfumed ones.  My favourite is Dame De Noche (Lady of the Night).  Having lived in Spain for the past 7 years, recently returned to the UK, I miss its potent aroma. The scent is only released at dusk and overnight and the flowers close in daylight. Hence the name…..

Jasmin is another favourite of mine, again for its scent,

and Bouganvilla for its vibrant colours. All three flourished in my garden in Spain.

These are some of the views from my house in Marbella.

So it got me thinking, what kind of holiday would satisfy my ‘budding’ interest in all things floral, and my passion for cruising, when I  came across this one offered by Fred Olsen,  On Braemar, which takes in a free tour of Monet’s Garden,  and an optional visit to Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam, one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in the world!  Hosted by Pippa Greenwood with an onboard gardeners programme.  Marvellous!

Another cruise I would be interested in is with Holland & America who are offering a free visit to the Island garden of Flor & Fjaere, Norway, on their cruise from Dover on 10th May. It includes an onboard Gardeners programme and is hosted by Matthew Biggs.

With prices from just £699, I’m sure these cruises will appeal to all you green fingered gardeners out there.

So don’t let the grass grow under your feet (excuse the pun…) if you’re ‘digging around’ looking for a different cruising experience, give me a call.
