A Welcome Return For Jane!

Yes the Yorkshire lass is back, in all her Northern glory!  – Jane McDonald is back on our screens on Friday 19th April on Channel 5 at 9pm.

She will be cruising along Portugal’s Douro river on board Emerald Waterways’ Radiance river cruise ship.  Which carries just 112 passengers in 56 cabins with a 1:3 crew to passenger ratio! This is an 8 day cruise called ‘Secrets of the Douro’, which features Porto, Regua, Pinhao, Pocinho, Vega De Terron, and finally Salamanca in Spain.

For those of you who have never river cruised to Portugal, the Douro Valley is a UNESCO world heritage site  with stunning scenery dotting with quaint villages, vineyards and farms. So plenty of opportunities en route to sample the local wines!  Pinhao especially is known for producing the world’s best Port!  Whilst in Regua, you can visit the Mateus Manor House to do a spot of wine tasting!

One of the benefits of a river cruise is that the food and wine is sourced locally!  So plenty of opportunity to do a bit of wine, port & sherry tasting on board too!  My particular favourite is Sandemans, quite apart from the actual taste, I love the logo!

I’ve looked at prices for this river cruise, and they are very reasonable!  From just £1645pp for an Emerald Stateroom. This includes your meals, drinks at lunch & dinner, Excursions, Tips and Free Flights!

I, like yourselves, was first ‘introduced’ to Jane when she appeared on BBC’s The Cruise programme over 20 years ago in 1998.   She was one of the on board entertainers, with a great repertoire of songs,  who viewers and passengers alike took to their hearts.  She is very engaging, funny, down to earth, and makes you feel like a friend to whoever she meets on her travels.   Her endearing personality and enthusiasm on the cruise ships has made her a household favourite.  If she could just drop the song at the end………. 🙂

Once she has shown us the wonders of the Douro, she will then be travelling on a two-part Indian adventure  along the famous and holy river Ganges  on board a five-star ship. This episode will be aired on 26th April.
