    Cruise Director Gary Glading

The unforgettable Gary was the CD on our Oriana cruise in 2009. I read that he has now published his long awaited book called Stars, Staterooms and Stowaways (profits to his charitable animal sanctuary). He has appeared on Sky Travel and BBC1 this year, such is his standing in the cruise industry. Does anyone else have memories of this splendeid chap who unfortunately now works on NCLs Norwegian Jade running out of Venice.

We are not fans of the cheesy self promotion but have every respect for his efforts for the animals he looks after.

Thanks Phil, I've just ordered the book from Amazon. Love stories from behind the scenes especially when my money goes to help animals as an added bonus.
        Cruising my way through life!

Thank you for that Diva18. If Gary Glading is a "Cheesy self promoter" then I, and thousands like me, am a very poor judge of character. There are few harder working, more experienced, genuine Cruise Directors in the business. But I guess we could all be wrong.

Found him to be a good cruise director watched do an interview with Mike Doyle one of the funniest things we have seen on a ship not a bad turn in his own right .

Just joined the forum and noticed the chat about Gary Glading who was the cruise director on our first ever cruise with P&O's Aracadia back in 2009. We were amazed how versatile and hard working he was. He interviewed celebs, compered the evening shows, masterminded a memorable 'sailaway' from Melbourne, partnered unaccompanied ladies on the dance floor and even formed a passenger choir who gave a concert. He was always on the go with a friendly smile. Our cruise wouldn't have been nearly so enjoyable without him. He's now on NCL's Jade ( P&O's loss/NCL's gain). Loved his first book, all proceeds go to an animal charity he runs.

Well said Catherine. He is a true professional with a heart of gold. We are tempted to take a trip on NCL Jade just to experience his style once again.

Jade is one of our regular ships,

Gary was a good catch for NCL and upped the standards which had been variable over the previous years due to letting one of the CD and second city have too much influence.
