Do we really need WiFi at sea

Which is my favourite cruise line I ask myself.
Well I suppose this depends on who I am travelling with.
If travelling with the family then the ship will need to have lots of activities and maybe a few water slides, but if travelling with my husband alone then I won’t need all these things, just a lovely medium size ship where the ports are more of an interest.
As much as I love life on a ship I do love to be going ashore and exploring or in the evening watching the sunset on the back deck.
When travelling with children some guests will need the kids clubs and others the water parks on board so this  will keep them entertained all day. Children mostly would rather stay on the ship than go ashore.
Our family do have a no devices policy on our holidays, well the children have an hour on their technology before bed but certainly not in the day.
One of the most popular requests when booking a holiday nowadays is will there be WIFI for the children.
It’s the only time now that families have together and enjoy each other’s company as there is no school or work to rush off to. So do we really need WiFi on holiday?
I believe not.
If I am away  on holiday without my son then I will always have my phone with me but if we are together then why do I need it ?
Whilst in Florida last year I was amazed at how many people experienced  their holiday through their phones.
We went on a boat ride to see the dolphins and it was only my family who watched with their eyes and not through the phones .
All that money and all you have is a video that you will probably never watch again .

People really do go into a panic or not know how to function without their phones and it’s really sad that this continues on holiday.

Well time for an update on my son.
He is home safe and sound.

He was taken to the airport by his father in Vancouver and then flew home all alone. As you can imagine I didn’t sleep the whole night worrying but apparently he slept the whole plane journey and couldn’t understand  why i would be so worried.
He only had 1 day to rest before returning back to school yesterday and I don’t think he really appreciated me waking him up at 6:30am for him to get ready for school.

He is of course sad he has had to leave his father and now will not see him until november.

He had a fantastic time in Alaska with all the excursions and spending time on the bridge and of course being spoilt on the ship by all the crew.

They did manage to get a lovely photo together

Take care for now and hopefully this sunshine continues
