LGBT plan to boycott cruise company!!

The world’s largest cruise line is facing a boycott from LGBT travel agencies after it cancelled all same-sex weddings on its ships.Carnival Corporation, which owns the P&O and Cunard lines in Britain, registers 24 of its ships in Bermuda. The island last month became the first jurisdiction in the world to repeal same-sex marriage, making the on-board weddings illegal.LGBT travel agencies, activists and holidaymakers are now calling for the company to re register the ships in a country where same-sex marriage is legal.

P&O Cruises has six ships registered in Bermuda, while Cunard has three. London-listed Carnival is the world’s largest cruise operator with about half the market and a fleet of 102 ships.

The question is, will it be that easy to re register all these ships to a country where same sex marriage is legal and will a boycott have any sort of effect on this massive brand. I suspect the answer to both of these questions is no.

Although carnival is a multi million pound brand registering in Bermuda rather than he uk makes sense financially.

With millions of passengers travelling on these ships every year I don’t think the people threatening to boycott will even touch the sides. It might just take another cruise company to come in and take a big chunk of carnivals customers before they think about acting.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this. What do you think of Carnivals decision to keep their ships registered in Bermuda and in turn not allow same sex marriages? Do you think they should re register do you think they care? Would it put you off from cruising?
