The Cruise deal of the century?

Norwegian cruise lines, the third largest cruise company is in talks at present to acquire Prestige Cruise International who owns luxury brands, Regents Seven Seas and Oceania Cruises and are based in Miami. the deal is said to be worth $3 billion, and the company Prestige operates 8 ships with about 6500 berths. It posted revenues of $1.2 billion in 2013, up 6 percent from the year earlier. Is the Cruise industry going to be dominated by 3 major players, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Corporation and Norwegian Cruise Lines? They are already  account for 82 percent of the North American cruise passenger berth capacity. Personally I think it’s a shame that all the big boys are acquiring the smaller independent and usually luxury brands, but that’s seems to be the way of the world where the big and the strong swallow the small and weak. Is this the end of the small family owned cruise lines? We will wait and see, what do you think?
