Cruise Reviews

I want to bring an example of 2 very recent reviews from our website of the same cruise. One review giving it one star and had a lot of criticism and disappointment and the other was full of praise and five star rating. On the first review, the guy had an issue with the luggage on the flight so that is already put a bad taste but it doesn’t reflect the cruise experience

“We booked a two weeks cruise for my partners 60 th birthday. Was going to be the holiday of a life time. Unfortunately this is not what it turned out to be. From the moment we stepped into the airport to coming home on the plane we were hit by problems that could have been avoided by the firm selling us the cruise. We got slapped for excess luggage the guy after us went through with his case weighing more than four kilos extra to ours and just walked through.! ”

At least he was pleased with cabin and the cabin steward:

“The cabin we booked was excellent plenty of space biggish bathroom and a balcony to die for. Our cabin steward looked after us so well we had no problem tipping him at the end of each of the two week stay.”

He was then complaining about the swimming pool, the lack of life guards and kids wearing nappies going in the water. He also complained of the ship doctor not being there all the time but then again, doctors are not there 24 hours a day back home on dry land.

The next criticism was about the all inclusive as below:

” All inclusive – we found out not quite all inclusive plenty of add ons if like us you were first time and werent expecting them you could have been caught out. Luckily we took a credit card to cover these unexpected add ons. ”

I think if you want real all inclusive you have to go on a Regent or Seabourn which are 6 star and not on a Thomson cruise but that’s another matter…

And on the second review the cruiser was praising it really highly:

“We went on the Iconic Italy cruise with Tui Discovery 2 and we loved everything about it! Ports of call: Palma, Civvitavecchia (Rome), Naples, Taranto, Messina (Sicily) and Corfu. The staff amazed me because they were so hard working, polite and accommodating. They really made our trip special by having everything in place. The organisation of the whole ship just astounds me! Everything runs like clockwork! ”
He also praised the entertainment on board, the facilities and the fact that they can’t wait until they cruise again with Marella.

These examples I have brought here are to show that reviews are not always black and white and you can’t decide whether to book a cruise or not based on some reviews as people have different expectations and they are very different between cruisers and I think the best is to use your own judgement and simply try the cruise ship yourself , what do you think?
