Holland America…My Day On Board The Zuiderdam

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the Zuiderdam whilst she was in port in Southampton as part of her voyage around the British Isles.  Holland America do not come to Southampton that often so I was very excited to get the chance to see this beautiful ship.

Here are some quick facts about this Vista Class Ship:

Length: 291 metres

Launched: 14 December 2001

Capacity: 1,916 passengers

Crew: 842

I was on a self guided tour so I could go at my own pace.  We were lucky enough to be able to see some of the cabins as well.  Here are the photos of an Inside, Outside and Balcony cabin.  The cabins were very spacious and well designed with lots of storage space

I had a wander around the public areas.  There was a lovely bar and seating area at the top of the ship which had wonderful panoramic views.  I could picture myself sitting here with a glass of wine or a coffee watching the world go by

Next stop was the pool area.  This again was very spacious with lots of room to relax with a pool bar and plenty of seating.  There are two parts to the pool area and both parts have hot tubs

I was treated to lunch on board in the main restaurant so I could have an idea of what food they serve and oh my goodness it was absolutely fantastic.  I had three courses followed by coffee.  My only thought after this was how was I going to manage the drive home from Southampton!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience of one of the Holland America ships.  These ships are definitely 5 star with lots of added touches that would make a cruise on this ship a luxurious experience.
