PO Cruises Arcadia and Oceana to be refurbished by Christmas 2017.

Great news for those booked to sail in the near future on either Arcadia or Oceana. The two much loved P&O Cruises ships are to undergo multi-million pound refits before Christmas.

Arcadia is currently undergoing her refit in Hamburg in preparation for Christmas and her 99-night World Cruise which departs Southampton on January 9th. Work to Arcadia includes cabins, suites, public areas, bars, main dining restaurants and fine dining venues being revamped. The Terrace Bar will also gain refurbished hot tubs as well as a new canopy over a swimming pool which will extend out to cover the bar. The Arcadia was previously refurbished in November 2013. Arcadia’s first cruise after her refit will be a three night Belgium cruise round trip from Southampton departing next Wednesday November 15th.

Oceana will enter dry dock in Hamburg at the end of November to be updated and refreshed. Work to Oceana includes refurbished youth spaces with improved entertainment equipment, new soft play equipment, revised nursery space and an updated area for teenagers. Oceana’s previous refurbishment was December 2012. Oceana’s first cruise after her refit will be a twelve night Canary Islands and Portugal cruise from Southampton on December 17th.

P&O Cruises said the refurbishments will result in a “fresher and more contemporary feel and improve the onboard guest experience”.

P&O Cruises senior vice president Paul Ludlow said: “Those travelling on Arcadia and Oceana can look forward to new design concepts and improvements to comfort while still enjoying the incomparable service that characterises a P&O Cruises holiday.”

Recent feedback from clients would suggest the refurbishments are long overdue but either way, guests can now look forward to two of P&O Cruises favourite ships being given a much needed face lift.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, is it about time? Are you sailing on Arcadia 15th November, if so please feel free to let me know if the changes were a success.

Bye for now.
