Another Airline goes bust, just shows the importance of having an atol protected booking

You may have seen recently in the news that another low cost airline has now gone bust, unfortunately this time it was Primera Air.

Flights ceased on Monday the 1st October at midnight after 14 years of operation. It doesn’t seem that long ago that Monarch Airlines also had the same happen to them, you can never be sure if something like this is going to happen.

Primera were a Danish registered airline and not part of an Atol protection scheme which means that if you had flights booked you may well not get your money back from them.

This just goes to show the importance of booking a package with an Atol protected agent like ourselves. If we had booked flights with this airline for our clients then it would be our responsibility to compensate or re-organise.

Often people try to save a few pounds by booking elements themselves rather than with an atol protected agent but this does have a risk involved, unfortunately as situations like this show.

It is always a shame to see the disruption and inconvenience caused by something like this and to know a lot of people will also be losing jobs. Let’s hope we don’t hear any more similar reports for a good while now.
