Why I would sail with MSC!

I’ve spoken to a lot of customers who have said they wouldn’t travel with MSC as they would like a more British or American cruise-line and feared being in the minority.  We as cruise agents also have pre-conceived ideas of every cruise-line and so that’s why when I got the opportunity to go on-board the MSC Preziosa in September for a ship visit I jumped at the chance to experience it for myself!

The Preziosa is one of MSC’s Fantasia class ships and sailed from the UK this year.   This will be replaced sailing from Southampton by the MSC Magnifica next year which is a similar style ship but just a little bit smaller.  From speaking to the MSC agents on-board they advised that the UK departures had about a 60/40 English ratio, so UK passengers will be in a majority for most of these cruises!  They are also accommodating the British with a wider selection of British options and even a kettle in each room for us to make a tea or coffee.  If sailing from a non UK port you may have more of a mixture and be in a minority with other European or American passengers on-board but this is the same of most cruise lines when you don’t sail from the UK.  They still very much accommodate English speaking customers and sometimes a mixture of nationalities can be nice!

On embarking the ship, I was truly wowed by the amazing atrium!  It was very spectacular, especially with thousands of Swarovski crystals covering the stairs!  I love bold designs and interesting paintings and sculptures, so this ship appealed to me greatly!  Each area seemed to have a different theme and it was all beautifully decorated.

We went straight for lunch as the ship was delayed coming in due to severe weather.   We enjoyed a fresh buffet salad buffet followed by our 3-course meal from which I chose the prawn cocktail, cottage pie and chocolate cake for pudding.  The food tasted lovely and fresh and we really enjoyed it!

We had a tour of the ship after lunch.  There were many different bars and restaurants to choose from that you got the feeling that it would take at least a week to try everywhere out!  There was a large and very grand Theatre for shows, a very large casino, sports café and a safari lounge (just to name a few venues)!  This ship has so many facilities to keep adults, teenagers and children entertained with swimming pools, hot tubs, water slides, a formula one simulator, 4d cinema and full-length bowling alley!
