Cruising the Maldives in Style, with Four Seasons Explorer

Any keen cruiser will be aware that there aren’t many cruises to the Maldives, and even then, you’ll only probably make a token stop at the capital city, Male.  Let’s face it, if you’re planning a trip including the Maldives, you’ve probably saved up quite a few £££s, as it’s not exactly the cheapest destination.  If you’ve saved up hard and really want to spoil yourself with a cruise around some of the uninhabited islands that few people get to see, then you could do far worse than embark on the trip of a lifetime, courtesy of Four Seasons Resorts, who not only have 2 beautiful island resorts in the archipelago, but also have a boutique cruise vessel, ‘Four Seasons Explorer’, which will also transport you from one resort to the other, over a 3-day duration, via some of the most beautiful marine biospheres on the planet!

Once you arrive at Male international airport, the dedicated Four Seasons speedboat will whisk you straight away from the arrivals hall to the resort of Kuda Huraa within 30 minutes.  Your water villa will have regular visitors, including baby sharks and Eagle Rays, and the accommodation and facilities are absolutely first-rate, especially for such a small island.

After a few nights acclimatising and  relaxing, you can then embark on the ‘Explorer’ for a 3-night unique luxury cruise experience like no other, followed by a stay at the larger resort of Landaa Giraavaru, Four Season’s second hotel, close to the home of some of the largest schools of Manta Rays you will ever see .  From here, you can sign for a special mobile phone at reception (for a fee), which is known as the Manta ‘on call’ programme, whereby as soon as the in-house marine biologists spot a school of Mantas, you will be called and summoned to the pier for a short speedboat ride out to the middle of the ocean, where you can snorkel with the gentle giants for up to 1 hour!
